Indeed. It's a lot of money, although I suppose it's not that much when you are a proper grown up like yourself.

I wouldn't say "not that much", but It's fair to say that I wouldn't consider it "a lot", not compared to buying a set of new heaters, or having to have the bathroom and plumbing redone, etc. Back in my student days it would, of course, been a different matter.
