Still not King...

Just watched the extended DVD version of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It's a long time since I last saw it, so I'm not really in a position to do a comparison with the original version. There are the obvious additions such as Galadriel's gift giving, but more it's just an added feeling of depth, more characterisation etc. 5 weeks tomorrow until The Two Towers...

I would rather like to see the HP and FotR DVDs (ideally, the extended DVDs) before I see their sequels at the movies. Unfortunately, they aren't available for rent yet (...are they?) so it'll be a while before I go to see them at the movies - and I would prefer to see them in good company. Fingers crossed, they'll stay around for a while. I managed to miss out on Goldmember that way. *sigh*
Of course, if you're really serious about LOTR, you'll come to New Zealand to see it. A quarry less than a mile from here had an enormous castle built on it for a while while they were filming. It's gone now, sadly. Maybe they wanted to get back to mining stone or something.
You'll catch me at the Embassy, Wellington, sometime around opening day.
