Alas, poor Zorac

The Good: New PC components arrived today as promised.
The Bad: I put it all together and it completely fails to boot, just sits there complaining that both of my swanky pre-tested DIMMs are defective. Unfortunately, I have nothing else to test with.
The Ugly: The motherboard manufacturer's web sit is down at the moment, so I can't even go there to look stuff up. To add to the fun, I have no food and a large pile of dirty washing up.

Got some food and alcohol and read DV11, so feeling slightly better (if somewhat cliffhung). Managed to get onto Asus website and verify that the DIMMs I have are tested as working with the mobo, so either it the RAM is at fault. I'll have to try and test it at work tomorrow, assuming we have any machines that take DDR memory...

Still Not worKing.
Am so-o-o-o-o behind with fanfic. Hey ho.

Sorry to hear that you're suffering mobo problems. Turns out that my PIII 500's mobo's ill and needs replacement. (Probably will get upgraded at the same time on the grounds that they don't make PIII 500 mobos and processors any more.) If it happens to you, it can happen with anyone.

Is your PS2 effectively your #2 box at the moment? Wow.

Good luck! Get well soon, Zorac...!
Duff hardware can indeed happen to anyone. I remain undecided about the nifty feature which actually speaks at you to let you know what went wrong (rather than a bit of morse code) - the voice it uses is rather annoyingly cheerful for the situation...

Snake (the PS2) is indeed acting as my main user box at the moment as Visar (cobbled together old linux box) is stuck in a corner of the kitchen with no way of getting a keyboard or monitor to it.
