Merry Christmas Everybody

Having a fun night in, doing the French Christmas Eve tradition of the thirteen desserts (not as belly-bursting as it sounds) accompanied by a good selection of alcohol. Watched a classic musical (White Christmas with our traditional Christmas eve dinner (freshly cooked ox tongue with Cumberland sauce). After that we moved onto Jenga - a game that we bizarrely seemed to get better at the more we drank. The rest of the evening moved on to various discussions including the evil of the RIAA and the death of quality music, plus our formative films (apparently Dirty Dancing, The Lost Boys and The Rocky Horror Picture Show - now there’s a selection...)

Anyway, best wishes to you all!

OK, I did kinda-cheat to make sure I got the time right, but in the end I did post on the dot.

The family are great - as kids, Jane and I used to fight all the time (as is pretty much obligatory for siblings), but now, given time and distance, we get along great. As for the parents, they were really strict etc when we were kids - which is exactly what is needed - and now are extremely mellowed and great company.

The 13 desserts - I'm not sure where it comes from, but it's probably less exciting than it sounds, this evening including: a satsuma, date, fig, walnut, grape, Cadburys' Rose, segment of Chocolate Orange, sherbet lemon, etc...

Glad things have sorted out so well. Perhaps things will improve here when I get the advantage of time and distance too. Certainly I wouldn't feel comfortable with, for instance, making an LJ entry with my folks in the room. Maybe it's easier if they're talking to Jane or something...
Well, I have had the odd sarky comment (bet you won't put your tarot reading on etc), but otherwise, I have survived.
