War and Peace

By the power of time travel, welcome the new livejournalist (well, kinda), pepysdiary (currently 0.278 syndication points). Coming from 343 years in the past, you can read Samuel Pepys famous diaries in real time. SPOILERS: in about 5 years or so there's going to be a massive plague followed by a massive fire.

Finally got the Age of Mythology online play working properly, so had a couple of hard-fought battles against the boss. Managed to win both of them (Go Hades!), but it was darned hard work. Excellent fun, though. I would bore you all with the campaign details, but it's late and I need to have a bath and go to bed.

Tomorrow I'm off to London Town for the weekend, visiting Jo. Need to deliver her belated Christmas present (as those of you who know her will have no doubt guessed, it's Lego). Probably various shopping on Saturday, then it's off to see The Lion King IMAX on Sunday.

Squeeee....

LOL at the spoilers - funny stuff.

Also amused and impressed by the concept of playing RTS games against your boss. Twenty years ago, middle managers would deliberately lose to their boss at golf in a show of deference and flattery; nowadays, you've probably enhanced your reputation as a fast-thinkin', fast-actin' switched-on techie by beating him. Or something.

Thanks for the Lion King IMAX link. Turns out that there's a giant screen showing it in Durham, about 25 miles away, which I didn't know about. Blimey. Blimey O'Reilly. Blimey O'Reilly O'Rourke.

Have fun in Lunnun town!
Hmmm. Even 20 years ago, it wasn't always a good idea to throw the game - your boss might decide that you were therefore a worthless sycophant (sp?). Have to admit that RTS against a human opponent is *much* more fun than against the computer (and even that is a big bag of fun) - had to develop all sorts of different tactics rather than just using the "build big army then march on enemy base and hope for the best" approach.
