mact00bage report

It's a week ago now, and plenty of people have already had their say, so I'm just going to go with a bunch of recollections in no particular order.

Technology

At it's height, we had a total of eight computers (including 7 laptops) going at once - and on the first night, two iBooks and a Cube put the Mac in mact00bage. The downside was that the floor tended to become a deathtrap of power and network cables, but thankfully injuries were avoided. We also managed (just) to restrain ourselves from the height of silliness that is Y!Ming someone in the same room just because you can.

Shopping

Keeping a dozen and more Mact00bers fed and drunk for the weekend involves not inconsiderable amounts of shopping. To this end, we made frequent trips to Tescos to stock up with the essentials. As designated fandom banker, I got to claim all the clubcard points ;-) We did get a few strange looks from the staff as we t00bed round the store, and the checkout girl on the last trip enquired as to who we were. I was tempted to answer "The Harry Potter Gay Porn Appreciation Society", but somehow I restrained myself and went for the much safer "You don't want to know..."

Games

Scrabble silliness - various fandom and other strange words making it into the game. Of particular note was queerasjohn starting the game with WAAAH, later followed by cygnusfap extending it to WAAAHOO (this is *so* a word). I managed to make both GRR and ARGH in parallel. jiggery_pokery was just annoyingly good.

Clueless Cluedo - the longest game of Cluedo that I've ever played in - and the only one that I've ever seen one by default. Several people went out early due to bad guesswork, then two of us went out because akahannah was forgetting to show us her cards. This left leiabelle to win by dint of being the only player left in the game.

I Have Never - played I Have Never before. A revelatory drinking game which was kinda fun, but I can see some people being uncomfortable with. It should be pointed out that lasultrix cunningly managed to sleep through the latter half of the game.

Gnome Toss - a fun, but silly card game involving colour changes and arrows to select the next player. John was the king of the game, and delighted on picking on other players (eg anatsuno) who weren't quite as quick.

Name That Voice - trying to identify actors, actresses etc from their voices reading sonnets or other bits of Shakespeare. Much fangirl squeeing over Alan Rickman ;-)

Puddings

I guess I started this with the first batch of m00se on Saturday night. It lasted all of about thirty seconds, but inspired us to go all out for puddings the next day. My contribution was another, larger, batch of m00se (which didn't last much longer) and I worked on the butterbeer with Cygnus.

Erin made a couple of batches of her excellent apple crisp/crumble (also fast-disappearing). And, of course, we all greatly enjoyed munching on mhw's dick. And making constant puerile jokes about it for the next week. For those of you who want to play chef, check out the fandom c00kb00k for all of our recipes.

Jollity

Having got a good start, we continued to be much with the singing, including (of course) more run-throughs of Once More, With Feeling! plus more soundtrack fun from Moulin Rouge and various Disney classics. Oh, and I should also mention the moving four-part harmony we did to Rufus Wainwright's rendition of Hallelujah.

More movie fun with the excellent Clue - the hilarious film rendition of the boardgame. Most notable is, of course, Tim Curry camping it up as the Butler and generally having far too much fun. There's also the three different endings and much t00by running (no, seriously).

Tragedy

Given that there were four or five of us online at the time, we very quickly picked up on the news about the Columbia, and much of Saturday afternoon and early evening was fairly somber as we browsed the news sites and streamed BBC News 24. Heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of the astronauts.
