Strange Daze

Well, I'm still not entirely awake after being on the 'phone until around 6:30 this morning talking to hermorrine (oh, the joy of timezones) - easily the longest telephone conversation I've ever had. We talked of many things, and while I may need to work on keeping my end of the conversation up, I think I can safely say that I am a master of the art of non-commital noises ;-)

Going back a little earlier in the evening, I managed to comprehensively plunge my bathroom into darkness - whilst removing a dead light bulb, I managed to bring out half the fitting with it. Ooops. Thankfully, chatting with Morri on AIM provided the answer, so there I was, soaking in a nice hot bubble bath, lit by a line of flickering candles - how Valentine's Day is that? Well, apart from one rather vital ingredient ;-)

Have decided to give up on trying to figure out my body's sleep patterns. I'm never sure how much I need, or how much I got, frequently can be feeling tired by mid-morning, and yet still feeling awake in the wee small hours the next day. If it wasn't for pesky working hours, I'd be tempted to just go to bed when I feel tired and get up when I wake up - regardless of the time of day.

Anyway, I'm off to crawl into town at last - not much time for Retail Therapy, but strangely I don't feel the need for that at the moment anyway. Mostly I want to catch Donnie Darko (a film that various people have recommended to me) at the Ultimate Picture Palace, since who knows when I'll next get the opportunity. Oh, and at some point, I really need to finish my OMWF review.

P.S. Mmm-hmm...

You have enabled me to complete my lifelong quest to find someone who stays up even more insanely late than me. I went to bed around 5:30am. You know you're up too late when people 5 hrs behind you have long ago gone to sleep...

Amen. *sigh* Why must we conform to the rest of the world? < /melodrama> ;)
OK, I should point out that I don't very often stay up quite so insanely late - 1-2am is the more normal top end of my insanity. Mind you, there were a few times in college when I stayed up so late that it was time for the next morning's lectures...

Have fun with the shopping and/or movie. I've just been woken up by my extremely loud parents after barely 5 hours of sleep and now I'm going to run errands, so talk to you when we're both back? :)
You're a smart bloke, Mark, so I'm sure you have an excellent cheap phone calls solution already. If not, then may I point you in the direction of http://www.just-dial.com/pages/list_nr_countries.asp - calls to the USA for a not very non-trivial price. Have fun!

Idly curious to know just how long your phone chat was. I've had probably five 3+ hour chats over the years and probably fifty 1+ hour ones. (Probably at least one with you.) Fun!
He hasn't called me any yet, as I have a ridiculously cheap calling card. Basically you get about 1000 minutes for $20. If he wants to call me at some point he can, or else just pay for the next calling card, whichever's cheaper.

And last night was 3 1/2 hours, tonight was 2... I think. Might've been more.
Probably a little under 2 hours, due to my heading sleep-wards. And all the cheap calls things I've seen in the UK would work out at a minumof around 3 times what you're paying, so paying for the next calling card seems te most economical option.
*nods* I'm actually not explaining this thing well, I realize.

The way the card works is that when the call connects, it takes $2 right away (that was why I couldn't call the other phone back at Mact00bage). After that, the per-minute rate is .015 cents. Obviously, if you don't make long calls, this is not the calling card for you. But as I tend to (ahem), it works well. The site I go through accepts PayPal for the cards, which also makes it easier - www.ld.net.

And now I really need to go and get dressed. ;)
