Vroom!

Went Karting with work yesterday evening. This was entirely too much fun, and I survived without even much stiffness or bruising. Despite having done it once before, it was still a good long time before I was comfortable enough to really put my foot down and get in some half-decent lap times. Admittedly, my final position was still pretty unimpressive - but hey, I was there to have fun, not to win (that went to the organiser, as with the Grand National sweepstake ;-)

As regards Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (current bestseller in daftonia), I haven't read the spoilers and I don't want to read the spoilers. I don't care if they're no worse than the back of the book jacket, because I won't be reading that before I read the book. Anyone posting spoilers not behind a cut will be poisoned, shot, hung, drawn, quartered and then really hurt. In the nicest possible way, of course.

Ooh, cool. Did you do the grand prix meeting format or the long race format? When I am rich, I would be well up for some kartt00bage.

How fast were your karts supposed to be able to go? I believe the ones I've been in could go up to about thirty mph, but there are some which exist that could go up to 55 or, supposedly, to 85. Yikes.
We did a pair of 25-lap races each (plus 4-lap warm-up), split into two groups for the first races, then the best and worst from each group put together for the second races. Me, I was in the first heat, then the 'Sunday Drivers' race ;-)

The karts have an alleged top speed of 55mph, although I doubt there's room for anything like that on the track we were on - no speedo, alas.
