Once More, With Feeling!

In honour of the first anniverary of it's première on British television, I bring you this exclusive review and analysis of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's all singing, all dancing musical extravaganza evil, Once More, With Feeling! - as sung repeatedly at MacT00bage. Beware that potential spoilers aplenty abound for Buffy up to the end of season 6.

The short, short version: Transcendental Genius.

The long, long version: Collapse )

Strange Daze

Well, I'm still not entirely awake after being on the 'phone until around 6:30 this morning talking to hermorrine (oh, the joy of timezones) - easily the longest telephone conversation I've ever had. We talked of many things, and while I may need to work on keeping my end of the conversation up, I think I can safely say that I am a master of the art of non-commital noises ;-)

Going back a little earlier in the evening, I managed to comprehensively plunge my bathroom into darkness - whilst removing a dead light bulb, I managed to bring out half the fitting with it. Ooops. Thankfully, chatting with Morri on AIM provided the answer, so there I was, soaking in a nice hot bubble bath, lit by a line of flickering candles - how Valentine's Day is that? Well, apart from one rather vital ingredient ;-)

Have decided to give up on trying to figure out my body's sleep patterns. I'm never sure how much I need, or how much I got, frequently can be feeling tired by mid-morning, and yet still feeling awake in the wee small hours the next day. If it wasn't for pesky working hours, I'd be tempted to just go to bed when I feel tired and get up when I wake up - regardless of the time of day.

Anyway, I'm off to crawl into town at last - not much time for Retail Therapy, but strangely I don't feel the need for that at the moment anyway. Mostly I want to catch Donnie Darko (a film that various people have recommended to me) at the Ultimate Picture Palace, since who knows when I'll next get the opportunity. Oh, and at some point, I really need to finish my OMWF review.

P.S. Mmm-hmm...

Valentine, Shmalentine

So, here we are in the final run up to the most depressing day of the year. I'm talking about this month's Hallmark Day, a.k.a. The One With All The Hearts And Flowers. This year I'll be sending just the one card (it being Dad's birthday on the 14th), and doubtless receiving none. Ah, well...

BTD

Tonight went to the annual dinner of the Invariants - mostly just because I'll take any excuse to dress up in black tie, but also for the food and the socialising. After the food, we did t00by photocalls before retiring to the bar where silly towers were built from plastic cups and drunken chess was played. On the downside, when I got home, I discovered I'd lost a cuff link :-( Oh, well...

Well, it seems like my kitchen mojo has well and truly departed. I'd just put some oil on in the frying pan when I got a 'phone call. Ten minutes later, "what's that smell?". Open the kitchen door and WHOOSH! Great clouds of smoke! I manage to turn the ring off, stick the frying pan under the cold tap and open the window before retreating with streaming eyes and a hearty cough. On the second attempt, I managed to break the wooden spatula I was stirring with, and when I went to put water on for the pasta, I managed to turn on the wrong ring and end up with a well-done panhandle.

Methinks I should stick to puddings.

Rants and Raves

OK, if Windows XP is so stable, how come it's developed an annoying habit of locking up every hour or two? It happened three times last night while I was Y!Ming hermorrine (*flirts*) and already once this morning. Also, my mouse seems to be suffering from occasional possession.

Received a postcard-in-an-envelope this morning, and across the inside of the back of the envelope was written "No room to sign the card - did you guess who it's from?". Ah, that would be my Mother reminding me that she's in warmer climes down on Reunion. *is jealous*

To leiabelle: payback arrived safely this morning. Thanks!

Anyway, off to Bristol to visit my sister (and escape the clutches of LJ) for the weekend.
